Home Sleep Testing
Has your bed partner complained about your snoring?
You could have Sleep Apnea
Snoring affects approximately 90 million American adults and is a common problem among all ages and both genders. The snoring occurs because your tongue closes off your airway during sleep, and causes disruptions in your sleep. These disruptions or “apneas” can occur hundreds of times during the night, yet you probably don’t even realize it’s happening. This condition is called Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Central Sleep Apnea works a little differently. This disorder also involves breathing that repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. However, the cause is in the brain -- which doesn't send the proper signals to muscles that control breathing.
Every time you have a pause in breathing, your body (and brain) are deprived of much-needed oxygen. This fragmented sleep is not refreshing - and it affects your body’s functioning, which increases risk for chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, even dementia.
When you’re sleep-deprived, you have trouble staying awake during the day. At work, you struggle to focus and stay awake. Driving is another struggle - a dangerous one, as it threatens your life and others.
That’s why we created Millennium Sleep Lab.
We provide the technology to diagnose sleep apnea while you sleep at home. Our multi-night test will provide our sleep specialists all the data they need to make a diagnosis - either Central or Obstructive Sleep Apnea. You can then get the treatment you need for a lifetime of good sleep.
If you think you may have sleep apnea, an Epworth Scale is used to gauge your level of daytime sleepiness and help you explain your situation to your medical professional.
